The HI9835 is a durable, portable EC/TDS/NaCl meter designed for use in areas of production and quality control. Details

The HI9835 is an ideal solution to accurately measure conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS), salinity (NaCl), and temperature within one handheld meter. With the autoranging feature of the EC and TDS ranges, the meter automatically sets the meter to the scale with the highest possible resolution. Among the many user-selectable features include automatic (ATC), manual (MTC) or disabled temperature compensation, an adjustable temperature coefficient (β), and TDS conversion factor. If pressed during measurement, the auto endpoint button freezes the reading display when stability is reached for more convenient data recording.

With an IP67 rating, the housing of the HI9835 is completely waterproof and built to withstand harsh field conditions. The HI76309 EC/TDS probe that comes with the meter is a four-ring probe with an internal temperature sensor that resists clogging and is easy to clean. The large, multi-level LCD displays the primary reading, temperature, calibration guides, and meter functions simultaneously. Symbols and messages on the LCD indicate meter status and help to guide users through operations.

Four-ring ProbeThe HI76309 is a stainless steel four-ring probe that offers an accurate solution for EC, TDS, and salinity readings. Four-ring technology allows for a larger range of measurement within a single probe, whereas two probe technology is somewhat limited in the range in which it can measure. The probe features a built-in temperature probe to allow for temperature compensated readings, as well as a protective PVC sleeve that assures durability when taking measurements outdoors.

Three Measurement ModesHI9835 offers three measurement modes: EC, TDS, and salinity. Users can easily switch between measurement modes with a simple press of the 'Range' button. EC measurements range from 0.00 to 500.0 mS/cm (actual EC); TDS measurements range from 0.00 to 400.0 ppt (actual TDS); salinity measurements range from 0.0 to 400.0% NaCl.

Adjustable TDS Factor - The TDS value in aqueous solutions is directly proportional to conductivity. The ratio between the two parameters depends on the solution being measured. The HI9835 has an adjustable TDS factor from 0.40 to 0.80, allowing users to choose the conversion factor that is the most appropriate for their particular solution.

Automatic Temperature Compensation - Since temperature has such a dramatic effect on conductivity (and thus TDS and salinity readings), having a meter that offers temperature compensated readings is invaluable. The probe of the HI9835 features a built-in temperature sensor that automatically accounts for the effects of temperature in the range of -20.0 to 120.0°C (-4.0 to 248.0°F). Users also have the option to select manual temperature compensation or disable it for actual EC and TDS measurements.

Adjustable Temperature Compensation Coefficient - The temperature compensation coefficient, also known as β, is adjustable from 0.00 to 6.00%/°C; this factor corrects the reading a set percentage % for each degree Celsius change in the sample.

Automatic Calibration - The HI9835 can be automatically calibrated at one point in a standard EC solution. A range of memorized standards can be used for EC calibration which will automatically calibrate TDS readings. Salinity can be calibrated to one point using the HI7037 100.0% NaCl standard solution.

Instability Indicator - The HI9835 displays a clock tag that will disappear when a reading has achieved stability.

Battery Error Prevention System (BEPS) - The Battery Error Prevention System detects when the batteries become too weak to ensure reliable measurements.
